A life time full of "Fat Tuesdays"

Yesterday i decided to have a real celebration of Fat Tuesday. But yesterday came and went without me eating, drinking or doing anything out of the ordinary. i even had some mojitos in the fridge! Didn't have even a sip!
Every time i am going to start something new, a job, diet, exercise program, or whatever somehow i think i am suppose to live it up the day before. i take Fat Tuesday seriously, even when it is not Fat Tuesday. My life has been a series of Fat Tuesdays. "OK i'd better eat all of this ice cream, stay up late, not meditate, skip doing the laundry etc., because tomorrow i'm going to eat right, get more sleep, do meditation, keep up with my laundry etc. EVERY SINGLE DAY FROM NOW ON FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!"

For this Lenten season, taking it one day at a time, i am going to:

1. Eat healthy, no meat, only fish. No sweets. 5 serving of fruit/vegetables a day. Drink plenty of water. (surprisingly i think the water will be the hardest)
2. Meditate a minimum of 15 min. each morning and evening. Just sit to sit. This should be a great way for me to reduce the stress in my life. (i'm pretty good about morning meditation, not good at all sitting in the evening)
3. Change my attitude. Taking the words of the Dali Lama "Whenever possible be kind...And it is always possible". (this will be hard!) If i could learn to think before i speak what a better world this would be.
4. Exercise(i hate exercising)
5. Limit my Internet use, mostly such a waste of time. (i'm shooting for less than 2 hours a day)

OK, just looking at this list makes me want to get some snacks, sit down and complain to anyone who will listen.
It's still early on this first day and so far so good.
