My Lenten Goals

My Lenten activities are more to get me back to a more physically healthly lifestyle, so I am focusing on what I eat (or rather what I'm not eating) and physical activity.

1. Okay, so first of all I was going to just give up that most sinfully delicious of breakfast foods - the grandaddy of them all ..... BACON!!!! However, after thinking more about it1 I decided to go further and give up the flesh of all 4-legged animals. So, no pork (I porked out this past weekend and couldn't finish a package of sausage links - they are in the freezer now), no beef (tonight is my last steak for the forseeable future :-[ ), no veal (again, I have Mock Chicken Legs in the freezer) or any other read meat. I couldn't exclude all flesh, so 2-legged creatures such as chicken and turkey (and no, no humans -- LOL) and fish are still on the menu.

2. The other thing I'm going to focus on is the big E - EXERCISE. Okay it's not giving up anything, but more of a positive thing to DO. My goal is to begin by exercising at least 15 minutes a day. I know, that isn't a lot of time to really do anything, but it is a start. Plus, once I start exercising, I usually go on for at least 45 minutes. The 15 minute minimum is to ensure I actually get up and do something and not just wiggle my toes on my way to sleep. Exercising for me will include any Wii time where I break out into a sweat. So my Wii fit time, which actually tracks your exercise time within the program. It also lets you add any other physical activity that you've done in a day and adds it to your exercise log.

Hopefully with both of these actions, my overall health (physical, mental and ecumenical) will improve and result in a more positive interaction with family, friends, and co-workers.

Happy Living, Stacey!

  2. LOL@ mock chickens!

I like the idea of keeping the exercise time short. Too many times we say, "I'm going to exercise 1 hour a day." And then we give up after our first missed workout. It's good to keep at something reasonable, since more than likely you'll exceed the goal. :)
